The Americas Cake FairSweet news for dessert lovers. Tickets are now on sale for highly-anticipated return of The Americas Cake Fair (Cake Fair) to the Orange County Convention Center on October 13-15, 2017.

Cake Fair is the largest trade and consumer show in North and South America dedicated to cake, chocolate, sugar arts and more. The inaugural Cake Fair in 2015 became an immediate sensation among professionals and consumers, alike.

This year, more than 10,000 baking professionals, industry buyers, pastry chefs, cake artists, retail bakers, hobbyists and everyday foodies from around the world are expected to attend the three-day celebration of cake, chocolate and sugar artistry.

“Consumer interest in baking is at an all-time high,” said Kevin O’Reilly, founder of Satin Fine Foods and Cake Fair. “There’s an enormous hunger among professionals and hobbyists, alike, for new products, services and ideas. Our show delivers that and much more.”

Building on the enormous success of the 2015 show, The Americas Cake Fair 2017 promises to be bigger, bolder and even more spectacular. “It’s the largest opportunity in the Americas to become completely immersed in the world of cake, and to learn from the very best in the business,” O’Reilly added.

Due to popular demand, show producers have added an extra day of hands-on classes and demonstrations on Thursday, October 12, one day prior to Cake Fair’s official opening. From the art of airbrushing to mastering chocolate modeling, all classes and demonstrations will provide instruction on the latest techniques from the world’s most knowledgeable cake decorating experts. All classes are three hours in duration and must be booked in advance online.

Internationally-popular pastry chef and television personality Duff Goldman, star of Food Network reality shows Ace of Cakes, Duff Till Dawn and Holiday Baking Championship, will delight attendees during his stage appearances on Saturday and Sunday. Other world-renowned cake industry celebrities scheduled to present throughout the weekend include: Mich Turner, whose clientele includes The Queen of England, Madonna and David Beckham; and pastry genius Ron Ben-Israel, named “the Manolo Blahnik of wedding cakes” byThe New York Times.

Construction workers are in high gear completing the 35,000-square-foot motor-centric dining, entertainment, and retail destination, reinvigorating a key parcel in downtown Orlando and bringing more than 175 new jobs to the local economy. The Ace expects to draw over 400,000 people to downtown annually.

Since 1938, Ace Cafe London has been a mecca for those passionate about cars, bikes and rock ’n roll culture. The original location on London’s North Circular Road began as a simple roadside cafe for truckers, then evolved into a popular destination for rock ‘n roll-loving teens riding motorbikes during the ’50s and ’60s. Today, the Ace has a multi-generational appeal from motorsports enthusiasts from all over the world.

Ace Cafe is located on a three-acre parcel in downtown Orlando at the corner of West Livingston Street and Garland Avenue, now known as “Ace Corner.” The Ace is renovating and refurbishing three 100-year-old buildings – once home to Harry P. Leu’s supply company – preserving the structures’ authenticity and even repurposing its original materials (for example, every table inside the Ace is made from the wood and heavy timbers reclaimed from the barn on property) – while also evoking the essence of the original Ace Cafe London. “We’re thrilled to welcome Ace Cafe to downtown Orlando,” said Thomas Chatmon, Jr., executive director of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board and Community Redevelopment Agency. “This entirely-new destination’s unique blend of restaurant, bars, retail, live music and event spaces will entice a variety of demographics to downtown. Much larger than its London namesake, Ace Cafe Orlando spans two floors and will feature a full-service restaurant, two kitchens, four bars, a coffee bar, a communal counter, a mezzanine that overlooks the main floor dining area and stage, and private and semi-private spaces for groups both large and small. Rounding out the offerings inside the Ace are Rockers Speed Shop (selling official branded Ace gear and apparel); a BMW motorcycle dealer; Dainese D-Store (Italy’s most famous high-tech riding gear and accessories brand); EagleRider motorcycle rental company (the world’s largest motorcycle tourism company); and Stonebridge Motorgallery, selling an ever-changing line-up of original motorsports and rock ’n roll-inspired artwork, photography, sculptures, and memorabilia, as well as collectable vintage and one-off custom motorcycles. Internationally-renowned bassist and Mack Avenue recording artist Rodney Whitaker is a proven and committed jazz educator, has presented numerous master classes across the nation and is a member of Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Whitaker is very involved with Dr. Phillips Center in building the jazz program. Since 2013, he has led three-day jazz residencies providing free master classes at local schools and led a summer program with a team of renowned jazz professors for a week-long jazz camp. Whitaker will also serve as artistic director for the Dr. Phillips Center Jazz Orchestra.

“We are excited to create a professional, anchor orchestra that will influence the performance of jazz now and for generations to come. We have an exceptional caliber of talented jazz artists living and working in Central Florida, many of whom perform nationally. Based on the deep roots and importance of the history of jazz, the formation of Dr. Phillips Center Jazz Orchestra showcases the arts center’s commitment to create and sustain its own professional jazz orchestra. This is the first collaboration of its kind between Jazz at Lincoln Center and a performing arts center.

Additionally, a unique programming partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center is evolving on a variety of levels to include Managing and Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis’ gift of charts to inspire the creation of a music library at Dr. Phillips Center.

A united vision to create education programs drives the organizations’ efforts to advance the appreciation, understanding and performance of jazz, including:

  • WeBop, an early-childhood jazz education program developed by Jazz at Lincoln Center (JLAC) for children eight months to five years that invites families to stomp, strut and swing to the rhythms of jazz, and
  • Essentially Ellington, a celebration of jazz as an art form to engage high school jazz programs to prepare and present three Duke Ellington pieces provided to them from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Library.

In addition to the Jazz at Lincoln Center programs, a new education program, 6th & Jazz, is an expansion of a partnership with Orange County Public Schools for 2017/2018. 6th & Jazz ensures that every OCPS sixth grade student in Orlando is exposed to jazz music. The program introduces this pivotal age group to the infectious energy of jazz, while providing a context for its cultural impact. The program will serve more than 15,000 students annually. Through live performance and sixth grade curriculum, students are introduced to jazz music as an art form and its evolution as part of the country’s history.

All of these initiatives are made possible through a gift by benefactors Joyce and Judson Green. Their leadership in support of music programs is well-known with the establishment of many arts programs across the nation to create places of learning and appreciation of the arts by providing artistically diverse, stimulating and accessible programs.

Blending the best features of a traditional naval pea coat with a classic motorcycle jacket, the Hammersmith is made from full-weight, 1.2mm drum-dyed top grain cowhide. A riding jacket first, the cafe racer-positioned sleeves are rotated 15 degrees forward at the shoulder, the dropped back offers full coverage for all riding positions, and armor-friendly pockets are incorporated at the joints and back. Zip-up collars offer full wind protection when doing “the ton”. The Hammersmith’s Union Jack lining even offers zippered access so that wearers can personalize the jacket with their own unique combination of patches, pins, and studs. The Ambassadors of Laughter will ignite attendees’ funny bones with lighthearted antics that offer a sneak preview of LEGENDSSM, the 144th Edition of The Greatest Show On Earth® playing the Amway Center this January.

On Wednesday, January 13, clowns will blend the magic of the circus with the importance of reading duringReading with Ringling Day, a special presentation at the downtown branch of the Orange County Library System. After a lively rendition of a circus-themed book, they’ll engage the audience with juggling, plate spinning and other silly and dynamic demonstrations previewing The Greatest Show On Earth. Ringmaster Johnathan Lee Iverson guides Paulo the Legend Seeker on a quest to discover real, living legends from around the world. Audiences will experience Alexander Lacey and his enduring bond with his lions, majestic leopard and tigers during one of the most captivating acts. The Solar Hawks, a dream team of acrobats, come together to amaze by attempting four consecutive triple somersaults on a one-of-a-kind double-wide trapeze specifically designed for The Greatest Show On Earth®. The Riders of the Wind, Cossack trick-riders will thrill as they thunder into the arena on the backs of thoroughbred horses stealing your breath with their daring stunts.
